In my previous blog entry, I mentioned that I earned enough swagbucks to redeem a $5 PayPal card. At first, I was expecting to receive a card in the mail or something, but then I was just expecting an email with information on how to obtain the $5 in my PayPal account.
It said that it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get the $5, but in reality it only took 9 days. The $5 was automatically placed into my PayPal account and I didn't have to worry about anything else... except now I don't know what to do with the $5 as there really isn't much you can do with that little money.
Usually I don't trust websites that claim to give you something for nothing, though with Swag Bucks, you're wasting your time filling out surveys, answering a daily question or searching the web. There are more ways to earn SB though, such as fulfilling special offers.
Usually though, you'll make most of your SB (swagbucks) by using there search (which is powered by Google). Surveys are hard to get approved for, at least for me, but they seem to have a decent payout of around 100SB or more, however, the higher the payout, the less chance there is of you qualifying for the survey.
Each day, you'll receive 1SB for checking the surveys (you don't have to do any to get the measly 1SB). Participating the in the daily poll will also get you 1SB, and so will using the toolbar.
Occasionally, you can find a Swag Code that you can enter for a few SB. I've never had gotten a code that gives you 20 or more SB, though, at least not that I can recall. Finding the codes are difficult though unless you know where to look. One good place to see if there are any codes available is We Love Swag Bucks, but by the time I remember to check that site, all of the codes are expired.
Additionally, if you can get your friends to join (or just random people) and earn SB through searching, you can make SB off of them. You get 100% of the SB they receive from using the search until they make over 1000SB. You do this through a referral link, and if your goal is to make a lot of SB, referring a bunch of friends should be one of your top priorities.
Receiving the $5 was reassurance for me that Swag Bucks is not a scam. They require no money to receive your redemptions, earn swagbucks or for anything, really. Unless you're purchasing something through their shop, then I'm sure that there would be a fee.
